CHEESEBURGER OR ARSENIC?
A new Chumash is now in the offering for some serious perusing-or so it may seem.
It is called the Etz Chayim Chumash published by the JTS. A casual glance within shows the bias of the publishers to aver that the Torah is a patchwork of man-made documents in line with Biblical criticism!
Upon seeing this , a congregant asked the "Rabbi" if anyone in JTS subscribes to the doctrine that the Torah was G-D given? the answer floored him.No , said the "Rabbi"!
In other words, the major Theological arm of the Conservative Movement World-wide no longer officially holds that the Torah comes from G-D!
This observer has long understood the slippery slope of various discussion points
used in the curricula of Conservative teachings. However, this is the challenge-You
Rabbis and serious thinkers , do you really think that anyone reading this will be inspired to observe the "conservative standard of Judaism"?????
I THINK THAT NOT ONLY WILL THEY NOT BE INSPIRED, THEY WILL DECLARE THAT THERE IS NO REASON TO CONTINUE AS JEWS. THIS CHUMASH IS THE EDUCATIONAL EQUIVALENT OF SPIRITUAL ARSENIC!
I realize the tightrope that some of the Conservative Rabbis have had to struggle with over the years. however, there was always a hope that someone would hear and be inspired to study more and he/she would observe the Torah. That faint hope has now been extinguished.There is no more need to be Jewish than to be an aborigine for both have only backward traditions as their basis. Time to go back to the boomerang
in the outback!
